When considering a possible employee, look for people that do not make a lot of promises. People that promise you the moon are likely to be excuse makers. If someone always has an excuse, they never take the blame or improve.
In summary, a good human resource strategy is to listen to an employee or a prospective employee. Ask them questions that will reveal their true nature. Try very hard not to criticize people, as it can destroy self confidence. Also, remember that people do not change inside, so it is best not to expect miracles. Instead expect the best, but prepare for the worst.
