The Results Of War On The Medical Field

War has a devastating effect on the medical profession. Aside from the death of its workers, this vocation bemoans going into something that is not internationally or nationally recognized as a favorable position. Physicians are obligated to neutrality, but as they must be physically situated on a particular side, the potential for harm is never far away.
In the unfortunate event that America sees war on its own soil, this struggle will become even greater. Doctors will be forced to weigh national security with caring for the sick. In order to manage this, more oversight will be needed. And this will definitely send shock waves throughout the U.S. Sent off to fight in the war, local doctors would melt away, especially the younger ones. Even retired military or reservists may go back to active duty. Individuals will have to forfeit their practices to clinics, and clinics will have to join coops to remain relevant. Greater focus would be on stopping epidemics. If there is anything that we have learned from past conflicts, it is that the thing of paramount importance is preventing a pandemic.
Many army medical units will have to be created. There is already a listing of all of the medical schools in America. Capable of operating right away, the national guard maintains a small corps group which is run by the medical division of the war department. The medical professionals will have to follow the instructions of the army sanitary corps. Worried about the most efficient means of advancing good health, both groups are concerned with food purity and available water supplies.
A number of doctors would labor to improve and make sera, toxins, anti toxins, blood transfusions storage equipment, and special drugs. By doing so, they will be contribution to mass scientific research efforts. Many issues related to the war effort will be studied at length by not only those in the field, but doctors back on the home front. These problems may include issues such as war wound shock -- a condition in which soldiers suffering minor wounds will collapse.
In this time of need, it will be important for teaching to be better than ever. The most unfortunate thing to think about is because more doctors are going to be killed than ever before, more doctors will be needed. The reason for all of this, obviously, is because of the United States' role in the war. If America can keep itself from actively participating in a war, the research into post traumatic stress disorders and other war related problems would become even more important.
The best discoveries will be made if the scientists are able to remain calm. Finding new cures to diseases or discovering new uses of vitamins aren't something that's an immediate possibility, but research work would be better utilized if it isn't done under the stress of fear of possible destruction. Anyone that lived through the last war can tell you about the horrible intellectual and moral concerns that can be drug up by a new war. In the beginning we did our best to stay calm and look for true facts to base our judgments and decisions on.
However, in these times as the war progresses emotions run along frazzled nerves and rationality always ends up slipping away slowly. We abandoned our interest in morality, both right and wrong, as well as our national passion for the facts. Reasoning amounted to near treason. Our humanity was replaced by hardness and cunning. No one can be sure at this point if we will go down this road, or how far down it we could get. There is something that we can say with certainty, though, which was taught to us in previous conflicts. No one comes out of the evils of war unscathed.
After the fight is over, we will be required to reestablish an economic roof above us, to fix the aftereffects of distrust and abhorrence in ourselves and to restore our ethical and intellectual reasoning. Of critical importance during that time of rebuilding is to consciously attempt to foster a sense of purposeful, collaborative initiative.
