Virtual Private Server Reviews: Is a Virtual Private Server Plan For You?
Go to: Previous Article Next Article
Virtual private server (VPS) hosting allows you to make a cost-effective transition from shared hosting to having your own dedicated server.
In a virtual private server hosting environment, each plan subscriber has the ability to use an isolated segment of disk space within the core server, independently of other plan subscribers. This equates to faster loading time for sites, and the ability to have much more control over the types of operating systems and software bundles used, access to root, and other services not available to those who subscribe to shared hosting.
Also, keep in mind that in a shared hosting environment, resource "hogs" that you share the space with can cause your sites to sacrifice resources, causing server loads and slow response time to all sites residing on that particular server.
If you run a blog, you may find that switching to a virtual private server hosting plan will allow your blogs to load much faster, as you will not be sharing as much of the server's resources with others as you would in a shared hosting environment.
On the other hand, you might find that you will need to do more in terms of technical support, unless you subscribe to a managed virtual private server plan, which will cost more than a standard VPS plan.
