After a trip last month to a local big box store and discovering that they wanted over a thousand bucks for a piece of plastic shed I did what you did and typed "How to build a storage shed?" into Google search and found the mecca of detailed storage shed plans. Lets get this straight and I am far away from being a master carpenter but I am capable of following directions so my next great project was discovered. In this article I will go through what I learned and will tell you everything that you need to now about saving money and building your own storage shed.
It comes down to money and by taking the hammer into hand you will be able to save a heck of a lot of money by building your own shed. No more cheap plastic that looks like it will break in a heartbeat but a solid structure that will last for years to come. Do yourself a favor and look at the prices of shed at the local store than take a peek at lumber costs and you will see why I was so excited by this find.
I am really picky. I admit to this personality quirk and my wife completely agrees so when I decided to build my own storage shed I wanted a design that stood out from other similar structures around the neighborhood. The package I picked up is by My Shed Plans and they include over ten thousand highly detailed shed designs so after spending a couple of days of reviewing and finally finding a design that I liked and my wife approved on I was on my way to starting my storage shed project.
As I mentioned before I am not a master carpenter and lightning strikes the same place a lot more frequently than I can muster but with the carefully detailed plans from My Shed Plans heck even I could figure it out. After convincing my neighbor that he owed me a favor and allowed me access to his cool tools I was set to begin my summer project and build my own storage shed.
Turns out the summer project only took a few days to complete and now I have a storage shed in my back yard that looks like it cost thousands but in actuality it cost a fraction of that. I have the shed that I wanted and with the help of My Shed Plans everything came together in a much easier manner then expected. If you want to go ahead and spend a thousand bucks on a piece of plastic than go nuts otherwise save your pennies and build your own storage shed.
