We enter into a tacit contact with the world the moment we are born. Life has to score despite grappling difficulties although the earth has the potential to shape us, we sign ourselves for a ride with filth and slime of the earth and make us trip through the crossroads, tunnels and narrow trials. In pinball the aim is to get the ball launched and then keep scoring points as many as possible, pinball game represents a stark resemblance to life. It hardly matters whether the game is lost, what remains to be prominent is to score as many points as one can. Lesson learnt from our failures is the strategy to overcome the hurdles in the next game because pinball is a game of trial and error.
Every effort we put in counts. Not a single move will go in vain. The pinball board gets each effort a suitable reward. The pinball game is generally divided into nine play levels each recognized by a rank that makes it easier to accommodate that is a gradual process towards victory. The highest is Fleet admiral whereas the lowest rank is represented as a cadet. By selecting and successfully accomplishing a series of missions we advance to the next rank. Exerting effort, doing designated jobs, completing tasks will take us to the next higher level where more challenging missions await us. More will be the reward points as higher will be the level. One has to commence his game journey with the rank of a cadet and only three balls no matter what one's skill level is. In the course of the game one has to earn extra balls and advancement in rank and some name the three balls as hope, faith and love.
Maximize the time spent playing, earn extra balls and keep the ball in play for higher duration and earn free games named replays. The planar surface called playfield is inclined in upward direction at 3 to 7 degrees. A plunger, a spring loaded rod puts the ball into play which rests in entry lane. The ball once in play, has a tendency to move down towards the player and can change course unpredictably if it comes in contact with objects strewn on field or a player makes such an action. Mechanically controlled levers known as flippers give the player the ability to send the ball to the upper part of the field and a physical push to the cabinet also known as a nudge may also manipulate the ball's motion. However, penalty is instituted for excessive nudging and the player may lose his turn or the entire game is terminated depending upon the intensity of nudge. When the ball hits kickers, slingshots or bumpers it actively pushes the ball. There are various targets viz, stationary, bullseye, drop, kicking and vari which reward different amount of points depending upon how hard they were stuck and resets immediately or do an action like blocking a lane or ramp. The game is distinguished by increasingly convoluted rules and is adorned with many such idiosyncratic rule sets that require a degree of strategy and keen planning by the player for maximum scores.
