Ring Options When Money Is Tight
Go to: Previous Article Next Article
You want to propose to your longtime girlfriend, but are hesitant to do so because you know that you can't afford to buy her the engagement ring of her dreams. When faced with this situation, you can either wait for better times, or you can get creative and think about other alternatives.
If you don't have the money on hand to buy a great ring, then stop to consider your options. You may very well have a family heirloom that will do the job. In this case, you might want to check with relatives and see if anyone has a ring that they are willing to part with for the occasion or that you can buy from them on a payment plan.
Another option is to do the sensible thing and buy the kind of ring that you can afford. If this gets you much less of a ring than you really want your future wife to have, you could always present it to her as a starter ring with the promise that you will upgrade it for her in the future. When you get right down to it, if she loves you enough, the size or type of ring isn't all that important. You never know, she may be so charmed by your intentions that she becomes so attached to the first ring that she doesn't want to give it up.
This is not to say that there are not rings on the market that are affordable. One option that you might not have considered is tungsten rings. Rings made of this highly durable metal can be quite lovely, and are available in less expensive options than rings made of other precious metals. So, before you give up hope of being able to afford a ring, do some research to see just what is available in your price range. You might be surprised at what you can afford after all.
The bottom line is that you find a ring that will work for the time being. If you don't have the money for the kind of ring that you would like to give, there is always the option of upgrading later. Again if the love of your life truly loves you, then the price tag on your ring will not be the deciding factor. If it is then you are better off without her.
