On A Budget? You Can Still Enjoy Skiing And Snowboarding

You love to ski and snowboard, but like others, it seems you're on a tight budget. Don't worry, because even if you're on a budget, enjoying a winter ski vacation is still possible. Below are some tips that might be useful.
Place
Your first option would be to look for less expensive places for skiing. If there's a ski resort that close to your home, then try to go there instead. Do you live in Los Angeles? There are two well-known ski resorts that's close to that place: Big Bear and Mammoth Mountain. You get to save a lot on travel costs and time if you choose to ski closer to home. Locals are even offered special deals by these resorts.
Your Transportation
Flying to your ski destination would mean transportation to and from the airport. SUVs are considered gas hogs, but if you're renting a vehicle then it's your likely choice. But often you wouldn't need to use your rental car. Instead of renting a car, try taking an airport shuttle. This is less expensive than rentals and you'll save a lot from costs like gas and insurance.
Save on Equipment
Rent equipment if you're on a budget and old ski equipment isn't exactly top of the line. It's more cost effective if you rent, especially if don't ski more than once or twice during the season.
When will you go?
If you're willing to be flexible in your timing then you have a better chance at finding better deals on transportation, accommodations and ski packages. It's more difficult to find better deals during late in the season. Don't plan your trips during the holidays. It costs more if you plan a trip around the holidays because people tend to have more time off. If you want to avoid paying more, skip the holidays such as Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc.
Deals and Accommodations
Besides timing, you also need to be flexible in your choice of accommodations. It's a good idea to compare the prices of the lodges. Special deals are also important when you call these lodges.
Getting Package Deals
A great way to ski on a budget is to try and get some package deals. There are some hotels or travel companies that want to get rid of excess inventory and drum up the business at the same time, and they do this by using package deals. Most of these package deals include transportation, meals and lift passes. You can find great package deals by visiting many online travel sites. Looking at the last minute travel options can also be helpful. As long as you're willing to travel on short notice, plenty of great deals can still be had.
